  • Why is it important?

What Is Search Engine Submission

Simply put, it is a mechanism to notify search engines of any changes on a web site.

Google has in collaboration with other search engine vendors have released a protocol to allow web site developers/producers to notify search engines of changes in their web sites.

Importance of Search Engine Submission

It is important for web site developers/producers to ensure that their updated content is indexed by the popular search engines.

Most people arrive at a web site via a search engine.

Given the massive number of web sites in the world it would be an enormous task to check every page on a frequent basis. Search engines have developed schemes on "predicting" when a web site changes, thus if a web site changes infrequently, then indexing a web site may be delayed for weeks at a time.

With a Search Engine Submission mechanism, web site developers/producers can notify search engines when content changes. The information passed to the search engines can be analysed and the search engines can better index a web site in a more timely manner.

Search Engine Submission Availability
